  • Water (1 liter)
  • Onion (200g)
  • Carrot (2 pieces)
  • Bay Leaves (5g)
  • Black Peppercorns (10g)
  • Salt (15g)
  • Parsley (50g)
  • Garlic (80g)
  • Toast Bread (2 pieces)

Instructions

  1. Preparation:
    • Begin by gathering all the ingredients and preparing them as specified in the recipe.
  2. Boiling the Pork Ham Hock:
    • In a large pot, combine the pork ham hock, Fanta, water, onion, carrot, bay leaves, black peppercorns, and salt.
    • Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 1 hour initially.
    • After the first hour, continue to simmer for an additional 2 hours until the pork is tender and the flavors have melded beautifully.
  3. Chilling in the Fridge:
    • Once the pork is cooked, allow it to cool slightly before transferring it to the refrigerator.
    • Let it chill in the fridge for 5 hours to allow the flavors to intensify and the meat to firm up.
  4. Roasting Garlic and Red Bell Pepper:
    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
    • Toss the garlic cloves and red bell pepper in olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
    • Roast them in the oven for approximately 40 minutes until they are tender and caramelized.
  5. Final Touches:
    • Remove the chilled pork ham hock from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature.
    • Finely chop the parsley and sprinkle it over the dish for a fresh, herbal garnish.
    • Serve the tender pork ham hock alongside the roasted garlic, red bell pepper, and crispy toast bread.
