Are you one of the millions worldwide struggling to get a good night’s sleep? From stress to anxiety, poor diet to health issues, the barriers to a restful night seem insurmountable. But fear not, for there’s a delightful solution awaiting you, and it’s as simple as a bedtime dessert.
Picture this: a delectable treat that not only tantalizes your taste buds but also lulls you into a deep, restorative slumber. Intrigued? Let’s delve into the magical ingredients that make this bedtime dessert a game-changer.
Bananas, those cheerful yellow wonders, pack a powerful punch when it comes to promoting sleep. Rich in potassium, they alleviate muscle cramps and tightness, paving the way for relaxation and faster sleep onset. Magnesium, another sleep-friendly nutrient abundant in bananas, eases anxiety and stress, two common culprits behind insomnia.
But that’s not all—bananas boast an impressive array of vitamin B6 and tryptophan. Working in tandem, these compounds convert tryptophan into serotonin, the precursor to melatonin, our body’s sleep hormone. Melatonin regulates our sleep-wake cycle, ensuring we drift off into dreamland at the right time.
Enter cinnamon, the aromatic spice beloved for its warmth and flavor. Beyond its culinary allure, cinnamon holds therapeutic properties that aid in muscle relaxation and blood sugar regulation. By preventing glucose spikes, cinnamon ensures a stable metabolic state conducive to deep, uninterrupted sleep.
Now, let’s get to the fun part—the preparation. Forget about brewing teas or concocting elaborate potions. We’re keeping it simple and scrumptious.
Cinnamon Fried Bananas with a Creamy Sweet Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 Bananas Peeled and sliced lengthways in half
- 4 tbsp Butter
- ½ Cup Heavy cream
- ¼ Cup Maple syrup 100% Pure
- 1 tbsp Coconut sugar
- ½ tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp Chopped Walnuts To serve, optional
Instructions
- On a medium heat, melt 2 tbsp of your butter in a heavy bottomed saucepan ( I use an iron skillet) and heat it until it bubbles
- Place your sliced bananas, cut side down, in the pan and turn the heat down to medium
- Sprinkle the coconut sugar over the bananas and let the bananas cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, making sure the heat doesn’t burn the bananas
- Remove the bananas and put them on a plate to one side
- Turn the heat to low and add the cream to the pan, then stir in your Maple syrup and cinnamon. Use a rubber spatula to make sure the sauce is well combined and then let it gently bubble for a couple of minutes
- Take the sauce off the heat and add the other 2tbsp of butter. Stir the butter through until it’s all melted and combined
- Serve your fried bananas and pour the sauce over liberally!
The result? A heavenly concoction that not only delights your taste buds but also sets the stage for restorative sleep. With each bite, you’re nourishing your body and soothing your mind, paving the way for a night of blissful slumber.
