Ingredients

    • 2 lbs. country style ribs
    • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
    • 2 tsp. salt
    • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsps. yellow mustard
  • 1 cub Jack Daniel’s Honey bbq sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 4 tbsps. unsalted butter

Direction

Preparing the Ribs:

To infuse our ribs with a smoky flavor, we’ll start by adding a few drops of liquid smoke. Since we’re baking the ribs instead of grilling them, this step ensures we capture that signature barbecue essence. Next, I’ll apply three to four tablespoons of mustard to the ribs. The mustard acts as a binder, helping the seasoning adhere to the meat. Afterward, I generously rub in my homemade dry rub, consisting of sugar, salt, ground black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and a hint of cayenne pepper for a delicate balance of flavors.

The Baking Process:

With the ribs perfectly seasoned, it’s time to bake them to tender perfection. I place the ribs on a baking rack without covering them. It’s essential not to cover them because we want them to bake at a low temperature and develop that desirable caramelization. To catch any drippings, I add a baking dish beneath the rack. The ribs will bake at 300°F for approximately two hours, allowing all the flavors to meld together beautifully.

The Glazing Process:

After the initial baking, we move on to the glazing process, which adds a delightful touch of sweetness. I remove the foil covering, replace it with a fresh sheet, and drizzle honey generously over the ribs. The amount of honey can be adjusted based on your preference for sweetness. Additionally, I add a dollop of butter on top of the honey to enhance the richness. For the final touch, I pour a cup of Jack Daniels barbecue sauce over the ribs, ensuring that they are fully coated in the mouthwatering flavors.

Baking to Perfection:

Once the glazing is complete, the ribs return to the oven for another 30 minutes to an hour. This final bake allows the flavors to penetrate the meat, resulting in an incredibly tender and succulent dish. If time is limited, 30 minutes will suffice. After this bake, the ribs emerge from the oven, perfectly cooked, and glistening with a tantalizing glaze.

The Finishing Touches:

Now comes the moment of truth! The ribs are served, accompanied by any leftover sauce for extra flavor. If desired, you can also dip the ribs in the sauce as you indulge in their mouthwatering goodness. To complete the experience, I highly recommend pairing these ribs with some freshly baked cornbread. The combination is simply divine!
